FOOD:
Container: The
FDA requires that each individual shipping
container is reported
separately and that a FDA Prior Notice Confirmation
No. will be issued for each container. In the
Lalandia system, however, you can add additional
containers under the same Bill of Lading No.,
without having to repeat all the information of the
parties involved by clicking on the
button.

Production
Identifiers, Production Lot Codes, Production batch Identifiers
or other identifiers are required for articles
of food that are required to bear such number by the
FD&C Act or by FDA regulations. Multiple lot
identifier per article of food will be accepted. FDA
statue or regulation requires Production Identifiers
for low-acid canned foods, acidified foods, and
low-acid canned infant formula. These identifies are
optional for other types of food. If not applicable
enter "NONE".

Estimated Quantity: The
FDA requires that the Prior Notice state the
estimated quantity of food that will be shipped from
the largest container to smallest package size,
like:
- 100 cartons of
48/6 oz. cans each of tuna
- 100 pallets of
2/100 pound (lb) totes each of frozen tuna loins
for a total of 20,000 lbs
- 100 pallets of
of 2/100 lb cartons each of dehydrated pig ears to
a total of 20,000 lbs
- 100 cartons of
20 lbs of fresh watermelons each carton for a
total of 2,000 lbs
- 750 bags of 25
kgs of Carnauba Wax of a total of 18750 kgs
- 2,000 lbs of
wheat in bulk
The estimated quantity
does NOT need to be cancelled and resubmitted, if
the estimated quantity changes after confirmation.

FDA
Country of
Production is, for an article of food in its natural
state, the country where the article of food was
grown, including harvested or collected and readied
for shipment to the United States. If, however, an
article of food is wild fish, including seafood,
that was caught or harvested outside the waters of
the United States or by a that is not registered in
the United States, the FDA Country of Production is
the country in which the vessel is registered. For
food that is no long in its natural state, the FDA
Country of Production is the country where the
article of feed was made. However, if an article of
food is wild fish including seafood, that was made
aboard a vessel the FDA Country of Production is the
country in which the vessels is registered.

Country of Origin:
The FDA define the Country of Origin of a food
article to be the the country of load port from
which the food article was shipped. Often this is
the same Country as the FDA
Country of
Production.

Harmonized Code
is used for all import/export of goods to/from the
United States. If you don't know the corresponding
Harmonized Code for the food article, please click
on the
button next to the field to search for the code. Use
the Find under the Edit header feature of your
Internet Browser to search for the name of the food
article. Only the first 6-digits of HTS code are
required in the Prior Notice.
NOTE: Several food
products that FDA consider different (different FDA
Product Codes) from each other my be combined under
one tariff number HTS code.

The
FDA product
code is an existing 7-character code that
describes a product for FDA purposes by industry
type and class, packaging, process, and specific
distinctive character. Kindly click on the
button, if you need to find out the food article's
correspond FDA Product Code or you need to verify
any FDA product already in the pull-down listing.

Identification of each article: The FDA requires a
precise description of each
article of food.
An "article of food" refers to a single food that is
associated with the:
- Same complete FDA Product Code
- Same package size
- Same manufacturer or
Producer
Consequently, if multiple food articles
exist, each has to be filed individually by adding
any additional food articles, as defined above by
clicking on the
button.
The FDA will issue a
separate Prior Notice Confirmation No. for each food
article, even if it is just different package sizes.

MANUFACTURER /
PRODUCER
The FDA requires that
the identity of the manufacturer of an article of
food that is no longer in its natural state with
Name and address and FDA Registration No.
The
Manufacturer/Producer might be the same as the
SUBMITTER, as well as the SHIPPER.
If, however, the
article of food is exported in its natural state, the FDA requires that
the identity of the Producer, with the Producer's name and the
producing location address (not the official
address of the producer's company or person).
If a article of food
comes from more than one Producer, separate Prior
Notices to be filed for each Producer. The FDA
Product No. determine if food article is or is NOT
in its natural state.
Additionally, if the
the Submitter does not know the identity of the
Producer of food articles in their natural state or, if the article of food has been
consolidated, the identity of any of the Producers,
the Submitter may provide the name and address of
the firm that has consolidated the articles of food
from different Producers or different producing
locations.
